First Cold Pressed Unrefined Ellyndale® Organics Extra Virgin Olive Oil is a premium oil that’s perfect for a variety of dishes, hot or cold. Our full-bodied organic extra virgin olive oil is one of the most flavorful and highest quality olive oils available with a free acidity of less than 1% linolenic acid. It has a pleasantly fruity, well-balanced flavor that complements your favorite dishes. (Smoke point is approximately 385ºF). Limited and not conclusive scientific evidence suggests that eating about 2 tablespoons (23 grams) of olive oil daily may reduce the risk of coronary heart disease due to the monounsaturated fat in olive oil. To achieve this possible benefit, olive oil is to replace a similar amount of saturated fat and not increase the total number of calories you eat in a day. One serving of this product contains 14 grams of olive oil. Cooking oils, olive in particular, are very commonly mislabeled as being higher quality than they actually are, or adulterated with other, cheaper oils that are not identified, a practice that dates back to ancient Rome. NOW has unique capabilities to conduct Oil Identity Testing of its new premium-grade Ellyndale® oils to ensure consumers are getting true oils and not fakes. This includes a fatty acids test using a gas chromatographic method to verify the profile of each oil, and testing for any potential contamination and foreign substances to make sure that each oil is safe, pure and exactly what the label claims it is. No animals of any kind are harmed during olive oil harvesting. Our organic olives are harvested by hand, eliminating the risk of hurting any animals during harvest.
